Opportunities for research are available to Gallaudet students each year to collaborate with faculty whose research is changing lives around the world. Several funding programs are listed below.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Programs

Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Gallaudet is a REU site for two fantastic programs in the fields of Accessible Technology and Cognitive and Educational Neuroscience.

 

STEM Research Internships:

Interested in Data Science and Biomedical Informatics? Check out the AIBIDS Research Program, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). 

Deaf and hard of hearing undergraduate students from throughout the United States may apply for paid summer internships to work with Gallaudet faculty on research projects. Past projects have included topics in genetics, environmental science, and cell and cancer biology.

Paid internships are available in Gallaudet’s Drug Discovery Lab.

 

S-STEM Scholarship

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the Gallaudet University S-STEM Scholars Program provides scholarships and academic support to academically talented, financially disadvantaged deaf and hard of hearing students pursuing B.A. or B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, or mathematics.

Undergraduates whose research has been accepted for poster/presentation at a conference can get travel funding through the Office of Research.
