Graduate Student Orientation (GSO) is an annual program to welcome new graduate students to our unique bilingual and multicultural environment and prepare them for their graduate school experience. During GSO, you will become familiar with Gallaudet University resources and have an opportunity to connect with your program faculty and your fellow graduate students. There are three major airports that serve Washington, D.C. International Dulles Airport (IAD), Reagan National Airport (DCA), and Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). The closest airport of the three is Reagan National Airport. Both International Dulles Airport and Reagan National Airport are connected to the Washington Metro System.
During GSO, you may park in the Sixth Street parking garage. A parking permit will not be required during the GSO week, but you will need to make sure you bring your driver’s license and a copy of your auto insurance.
Upon arriving to campus, go to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) in the basement of Carlin Hall to get your student ID. You can submit a photo prior to your arrival to ensure your student ID will be ready upon arrival. Be sure to review the photo requirements carefully, then visit bison.gallaudet.edu and click on Campus Solutions. Look for the Student Photo icon to upload your photo and proof of identity, like your driver’s license or passport.
All new graduate students who will be attending graduate programs on campus are expected to attend GSO. Distance students and graduate special students are not required to attend.
